The Year of the DOG !
The new year is always a good time to reaffirm that which helps us to grow and to release things, actions or people that no longer serve us or hold us back from pursuing dreams and ambitions. 2017 turned out to be a year of continued excitement and growth. My sister and I both had qualified for and competed in the 2017 Senior Games held in June in Birmingham, AL in field archery. As a result, both of us took home medals! My sister took a Bronze in the compound release division and I received a Gold medal and broke two national records - highest one-day score and highest two-day score - in the barebow recurve division. I am definitely stoked to keep this going!
2018 has been busy with Real Estate transactions and keeping clients healthy providing massage therapy. As for fun stuff, I have already been able to participate in some 3D archery competitions, plenty of bagpipe events, landscaping projects and animal adventures. And my newest hobby is Pickleball, which I had never heard of until attending the National Senior Games. That will definitely keep you in shape! But then in June I had a left total knee replacement. That was pretty brutal and kept me out of commission, but I'm back to almost full duty now with the exception of playing pickleball. That will come in time once I can have full range of motion.
In December, my sister and I once again competed in the Florida State Senior Games Championships and I came home with another gold medal. I'm always thankful to have the physical ability to enjoy and participate in sports and it's awesome to see others over 50 feeling "older and bolder" as well.
As the year has almost come to a close, I will continue to be thankful for the experiences I have had and the people and animals that have blessed me with being a part of my life. Wishing you a wonderful, adventure-filled 2019!!
